Education AI tools can help learners and educators explain concepts, generate practice, plan lessons, create course materials, support languages and accessibility, and organize research. The right tool depends on the learning objective, age group, subject, institution policy, and whether student data is involved.

Choose an education AI tool by task

• Study and tutoring: require step-by-step reasoning, source links, adjustable difficulty, and a way for the learner to answer before seeing the solution.
• Lesson and course creation: check curriculum alignment, teacher editing, export formats, accessibility, licensing, and whether generated examples are factually current.
• Writing and research: verify quotations and citations against the original source. Follow the school or publisher's disclosure and authorship rules.
• Language and accessibility: test the exact language, accent, reading level, caption quality, screen-reader behavior, and offline or low-bandwidth experience.
• Assessment and administration: keep a qualified educator responsible for grading and consequential decisions. Do not use an AI-detector score alone as evidence of misconduct.

Privacy and classroom checks

Before adoption, review the minimum age, parental-consent requirements, student-data agreement, retention, deletion, model-training controls, advertising, account sharing, human review, and subprocessors. Test with non-sensitive sample work before uploading student records or unpublished research.

UNESCO recommends a human-centred and age-appropriate approach that protects data privacy and validates both pedagogical and ethical suitability. Treat generated material as a draft and keep teachers, learners, and original sources in the verification loop.
